The Effects Of the Pride Of Man

"Why stand thou afar off, O Lord? Why hide thou thyself in times of trouble?"

This chapter speaks of a person who will not humble themselves before God. Truly this chapter represents a man full of pride and self gain. I can't help but wonder what the writer seen to write these words. The difference between a prideful heart and a humble heart is someone who is willing to be submissive to God and then someone who will not repent and ask God to lead their life. The word HUMBLE, means "Not proud or haughty: not arrogant or assertive, meek, lowly, not boastful. The meaning of the word PRIDE means, self superiority, boastful or arrogant display of power, skill or achievement. To be disdained, or to look with scorn." This reminds me of a scripture in Matthew chapter 23 and verse 12, "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." We know that God is the answer to a prideful heart. We all have a great need for God. The greatest need we will ever have, is the need of love and who can give that kind of love, only Jesus Christ. There is a place in God's kingdom for all, all who will humble themselves and give their life to Jesus. God is always merciful and forgiving, but we have to know, one day all will bow before him and if we don't bow now, one day we will for sure bow and proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord of lords and King of kings.

Dear heavenly Father, we come to you today with a humble heart. Lord, search our heart. Create in us a clean heart, like David prayed for. Let everything we do reflect a humble servant. We know you hear the desire of the humble heart. We believe you are far from the proud but very close to the humble. We long for your presence to be near us and in us. We want to be pleasing in your sight. Who we are in you God is more than anything this world could offer. When you look upon us, may you see your humble servants, with a heart that is willing.
