The Song Of the Steadfast

{Psalms Chapter 11}

"In the Lord, put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?

"For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart."

"If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

"The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men"

"The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth"

"Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup"

"For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness: His countenance doeth behold the upright"

What does it mean to be steadfast? The word STEADFAST means, Not subject to change. Firm in belief, determination, faithful and loyal. I love the picture today. It is a daisy growing out of a road made of asphalt. To me this picture tells a great story,a story of a steadfast Christian. Even when a child of God has trouble all around, life is pressing down, like the hot sun on a asphalt road, still they bloom. They still stand faithful for Jesus Christ, through it all. In verse one of chapter 11, it says, "In the Lord, put I my trust: How say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? What is the psalmist saying here? I believe he is saying, My trust, my faith , my hope and all of my heart is steadfast in the Lord. When trouble comes, how can you even have the thought to turn back on God, to flee the battle and run like a defeated soldier. Yes, the enemy rages against us, but God is greater. Verse three says, "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? We are on a solid foundation. When we were saved, we started building on Jesus Christ, the only foundation that will stand. We cannot allow the enemy to destroy the foundation on which we are standing upon. The Lord loves the righteous. Those whose feet are steadfast and faithful.

Dear Lord, we love you today. We are thankful for your word. We are so encouraged by todays devotion.  Like the little daisy that somehow found a way to still rise out of the hot asphalt, help us Lord to rise and be steadfast in the midst of our own hot battles. Our foundation is built on you Lord and we know it is the only foundation that will stand. We are your righteous people and we give you praise and glory for who you are, our Savior and King. As we sing the song of the steadfast today, may we sing it loud and strong. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen!
