Simeon Sees The Christ Child

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him

And it was revealed unto him by the holy Ghost, that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ

And he came by the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law

Then took he him up in his arms and blessed God and said

"Lord, now let thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word"

"For mine eyes have seen thy salvation"

"Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people"

"A light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of thy people Israel"

And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken of him

And Simeon blessed them and said unto Mary his mother, "Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against"

"Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed"

Simeon, an old man, had a secret. And his secret was that God had told him he wouldn't die until he had seen the Christ child. What a blessing from God this must have been for Simeon. He was so tuned in to God, that God made him this precious promise. This is what faith is. The knowing in your heart that what God said, will come to pass. God is always speaking to his people. He is communicating ideas and thoughts. He is constantly sending his direction to us. There are some, like Simeon, who  are tuned in by having made, by faith, a personal covenant with God. Some are alert to hear Him. It is we who choose whether we listen or not. All through this beautiful Christmas story, there were those who were in tuned to God. They listened when an angel appeared to them and obeyed. They followed the Lord's direction and it proved to be the right way that led to seeing a miracle happen. They had made God the very center of their lives. Impossible today? Not at all. God is no respecter of persons. He has something for all of us to do. We just have to keep our hearts in tuned to the Holy Ghost and what he tells us to do. God will always lead his people the way we must go. Great things will happen if we listen and obey.
