Seeing With A Heart of Love

{1 John 3:16-18}

Hereby perceive we the love of God because he laid down his life for us: we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren

But whoso hath this world's good and sees his brother have need and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God?

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth

As we look at the cross we actually see God's love, the cross is the proof of that love. God planted in our hearts love when He gave His Son Jesus to die for us. In the very same way, we take our love and make it something we give. Giving of our lives is the most powerful seed of faith we can sow. We give because God gave. The word "COMPASSION" means the sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to relieve it. This surely describes "LOVE". When we see with our eyes the need of others and turn away, this "LOVE" is not in us, but when we see with a heart of love which God gives us, we can never turn away and do nothing. When we can see the need and then do something to help meet that need, then this is God's love in action through us. 

Dear heavenly Father, oh how we thank you today for a heart of love and compassion. Thank you for giving us the love to see with our heart more than seeing with our eyes. May we always be willing to help others and be your love alive and working through us. In Jesus name, amen.
